A comment to Edison Lantigua. I have also gone through all of Peters books and have loved every one of them, although I was a bit disapointed by "Misspent Youth". Before I finished the last one I started searching for other SiFi authors, thinking I would not be able to find any worth reading, compared to Peter F. Hamiltons work. But I was wrong, I found Richard Morgan. Try some of his works.

About 2 years ago a friend introduced Peter F Hamilton's Reality Dysfunction to me. I've read most of his work since, Purposely reading a couple of pages at a time to enjoy his work in small doses because I've just come to realized I'm reading faster than Peter Can write his work. I don't want it to ever end. And the worst part of it is that Peter's work has set to high a standard for me to venture out to other sci-fi authors - thanks a lot for ruining it for me, man. Maybe I'm still too new to the sci-fi scene. Hey, Peter, either you kick it into gear writing your work or i'm going to have to cut down my dose to a couple of sentences a month!

Bowled over by Nights dawn trilogy, this is 'space opera' on a grand scale. So liked it I wanted to get UK printed hardbacks. hens' teeth are more common!

I just bought my copy of Judas Unchained at a fairly anonymous bookstore in the small city of Odense Denmark. As I came home, excited about the book and delving deep into the fantastic universes of Peter F. Hamilton I discovered to my IMMENSE delight that the copy I had picked up (the only one in the store, mind you) was SIGNED by Peter himself! Incredible... Simply incredible.. Brought a tear to my eye. I wonder how many of these "stealthily" signed copies are out there? I'm intrigued.. If anybody has any info, please let me know! Never stop writing Peter!

I have read all of Peter's books. I am not a big sci-fi fan but Peter F. Hamilton's fall into the category of "Books I enjoyed reading the most". Sorry, fave author is still Ian Mc Ewan and best book is "Guns, Germs and Steel". I am surfing around for info on when I can get my next fix. Fallen Dragon is due a sequel and I would love to know when it is out. Peter, if you read this, please don't feel like you are under any pressure here. I can wait. Really..... .... ..... agh!! no I can't. Publish or perish :) p.s. I never sign guestbooks. Look what you have driven me to!
12 - 22/09/2005 04:52 - Robert Helliger
I'm new to Peter F. Hamilton's novels. But after getting into "The Reality Dysfunction", I've gotten the sequels on order as well as his other books includuing 'Judas Unchained', (which is out in October in Australia). I can't wait for more from the author.

I got started on the reality dysfunction on recomendation from a passenger in my cab, since then i've read everything i can get hold of by Peter Hamilton, not to mention re-reading nights dawn a few times! I can recomend Fallen Dragon.

Best SF author; credible, detailed, realistic, political, AI concept fantastic, creator of most human-&-technical authentic-&-credible scenarios in the genre !
15 - 24/05/2005 19:20 - Jon Mills
I've read a lot of books and Peter just brushes aside all the other authors. Sex, politics, intrigue, technology, imagination etc. it's all there. The guy knows how to develop several great stories all at the same time. Even my wife enjoyed 'Misspent youth' and that's saying something. RESPECT 10/10 A+, Someone in this sick world that I can actually admire.

Peter Hamilton has opened my eyes to a new and wider aspect of the Sci-Fi genre. With unique and exciting technologies interspersed through out the story making you wish they were real and not just fiction. Keeps you coming back to his books.

Peter.F.Hamilton is the only writer that I have found to rival Phillip.K.Dick... 'Thank you for sharing your gift with the world Mr Hamilton'

love all of peters books , especially the reality disfunction series . Just read pandora's star and it looks like this triology will be even better (if thats possible) . cant wait for juda's unchained to be released
20 - 16/09/2004 22:30 - Keith Wall
Peter is quite possibly the BEST author whose work I have ever had the pleasure of reading...and the only complaint I could make is that after reading his work, it is difficult to become interested in any other author!
21 - 15/09/2004 12:07 - Charles Read
I'm just about to finish 'Pandora's Star' and I am trying to stay awake after sacrifcing hours of sleep over the past week reading this absolute work of art. I love sci-fi and like others, thought i'd read the best through Arther C Clark, Issac Asimov and Greg Bear but they just don't come close when compared with Peter. He's a genius and his books have all left me longing for that next hit, like some sci-fi junkie. Excellent, if you haven't read any of his work then go and buy them right now!!!!!!
22 - 06/08/2004 23:44 - Jean-Pascal Hallès
A true masterpiece, the Night's dawn trilogy... I thought I had read the best (Asimov, Clarke, Van Vogt...), and I was wrong ! La traduction française est très réussie... Bravo, Mr Hamilton !

Well, I'm back to let you know that I have read all of Mr. Hamilton's MindStar books. Loved them all. Not as good as the Nights Dawn Trilogy, but worth merit. I have taken a different reading path for awhile. But today I purchased Fallen Dragon. When I finish it, I'll post again.

Several months ago I got "The Reality Dysfunction" and "The Nutronium Alchemist" in Russian. Incredible!!! My English is not good enough to read the originals, so I'm waiting for the "The Naked God"!!!
26 - 08/02/2003 12:37 - Christopher Davidson
As I only have a short space I have to share my feelings about Peters books I can not list all of them here. The books have inspired me to think more about philosophy and have also been extremely entertaining. The entire idea of a united confederation is not an original one but is the most brilliant I have seen in a sci-fi novel.
27 - 20/01/2003 15:14 - David Taylor
I discovered Peter's work when I found the Nights Dawn Trillogy. I happened across the first volume and decided to try it, never having read anything of his before. I was totally and utterly amazed. Not since Arthur C Clark ( 2001 - 3001 & Rama series)had I read anything so wide and so sweeping. The neares auther that is near his bredth and detail is James Clavell's Asian saga. By the time I was half way through I had bought the remaining two and set to to complete it. It was an apsolutely wonderful experience to lose oneself into the story and be carried so far and wide with so many story lines to hang on to it was like an extreem rollercoaster ride. Since then I have read other stories including Fallen Dragon again another masterpiece. All I can do now is hope for another trillogy and the strenght to read it.

i must agree it is definately on par with the lord of the rings, PFH is very talented at creating peoples personalities and showing clear differences between the beliefs and feelings of different people and showing the cultural divide between species. Fantastic.

i must agree it is definately on par with the lord of the rings, PFH is very talented at creating peoples personalities and showing clear differences between the beliefs and feelings of different people and showing the cultural divide between species. Fantastic there is still one debate raging on between everyone i know that has read any of Peters work, and that is Should any of his work be made into a movie, if so which book or series, and how would it be made, perhaps a 100% CGI movie like Final Fantasy, it would certainly make sence if someone was to make a film of any of the nights dawn films, due to the extensive stays in 0 gravity, and the fact that due to the multiple species, and extensive special effects that would have to be used, most of it would have to be CGI any way.
30 - 12/11/2002 21:10 - Tyrone Tranmer

Neutron Alchemist has captured my attention a couple of times in the library, never took it though after i realized it's not the first part in the trilogy. The other day I noticed a small 'tribute' to PFH in a bookstore, and was overwhelmed by the volume of his work. Almost bought The Reality Dysfunction but finaly decided to start with Mindstar Rising. It seems to be good, so I'm looking forward to read more of PFH's books. I have enjoyed Ian M. Banks a lot, we'll see if PFH will take the trophy from Banks ;-)

I recieved "Nano Flower" as a '00 x-mas gift: have been addicted to Hamilton ever since. Peter takes you for a ride. The "Nights' Dawn" material blew me away; very rarely can a writer make me empathize with their characters. It has been over half a year since I finished the series (all six books in 10 weeks) and my sub-conscious still renders scenes from the Confederation Universe. Peter Hamilton's imagination is extraordinary and is only surpassed by his exciting, highly detailed writing style. He is not only one of the best sci-fi writers of all time, he is one of the best writers, period. Peter Hamilton will no doubt write or adapt his works to screenplays...to not do so would be a shame. Peter: thank you for your gifts. ....Scott

Dear sci-fi peoples, (my peoples), I began reading The Reality Disfunction, in its american distribution as Part 1: Emergence, about 3 months ago. I was lucky enough to have begun the reading as Naked God's last instalment, Part 2: Faith had been released on paperback. This is like no other series I've ever read! The fact that there is a plausible 'end' makes it so much better than most other series! I used to think that J.P. Hogan's 'Giants' trilogy was my favourite series, but, as you can see, that has been beaten down by this author's story-telling ability! A romantic-at-heart I may be, but not in good science fiction. I like a combination of hard, melded in a good story. This is the best I've read so far, and even my most conservative, Niven-Hogan-Bear fan, friends have aquiesed in telling; This Is A great Series. I'm suprised at the novelty!
38 - 01/08/2001 18:14 - SK Hawkins
As you can see by my chosen e-mail address I have become quite a fan. The Reality Dysfunction series was the best series since Asimovs' Robot and Foundation series. Currently I am enjoying the Mindstar series. I hope Mr. Hamilton keeps on going for a long time. Does anyone know if 17 is the legal age for young ladies in England?

I HAVE SPENT THE PAST FEW MONTHS READING ALL SEVEN OF PETER'S BOOKS, SINCE GETTING HOLD OF A COPY OF THE NAKED GOD BY ACCIDENT, I KNOW YOU HAVE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE BUT ONCE I GOT STARTED I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!. I READ THEM ALL IN COMPETELY THE WRONG ORDER YET I REALLY CAN'T PRAISE THEM HIGHLY ENOUGH - IT IS SUCH A REFRESHING CHANGE TO FIND TOP QUALITY SCI-FI BASED IN THIS COUNTRY . THIS FELLER WRITES 'HARD' SCIENCE FICTION THE WAY IT SHOULD BE - VIOLENT, TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN, WELL PACED AND IRREVERENT - BUT ALSO WELL REASONED AND THOUGHT PROVOKING - ABSOLUTELY A PLEASURE TO READ FROM START TO FINISH. RIGHT NOW WHAT I REALLY NEED TO HEAR IS THAT THE NEXT NOVEL IS WELL ON IT'S WAY, BUT ALL THE WEB SITES I HAVE LOOKED AT ARE TOTALLY QUIET ON THE SUBJECT - THE MOST RECENT 'OFFICIAL' NEWS ITEM I COULD FIND IS FROM LAST SEPTEMBER, ONLY FAN MAIL SINCE THEN. SURELY THERE MUST BE SOMEONE OUT THERE WHO CAN ENLIGHTEN US ? HOW ABOUT A WORD FROM THE GREAT MAN HIMSELF ?
47 - 10/02/2001 12:39 - Edward Collier
Read The Nano Flower and didn't like it. LUCKILY I had bought The Reality Dysfunction at the same time and, although very long, gave it a go. Best sci-fi I have read since the World of Tiers series of Philip Jose Farmer. Just got The Neutronium Alchemist for my birthday and can't wait.

Hi. I've read tons of reviews of these book. everyone says they are the best book ever. I began reading the first one, and after a while i put it down. About 200-300 read and nothing special at all. I can't get it, with joshua as main-character the book can't be good, he's a fucking idiot! I hate him. I despise him. What's so great about this book? Please, tell me. You can't even compare this to either The Stand or Imajica. Atleas not the part i have read.

Recently finished reading The Naked God. It is a measurement of Peter Hamilton's achievement that a 3000+ page trilogy could leave one hungering for more. Sweeping in scope, majestic, imaginative, and thought-provoking. Superior, especially in pacing and scope, to the Dune series, which many (rightly or wrongly) regard as a benchmark for SF epics.
52 - 09/01/2001 17:01 - Jon Allen
Having just finished reading The Naked God I have to say that Peter has created the finest SF universe ever. May he return to it sometime in the future. It would be a waste not to.

I'm 2/3 through with TNG. I'm at the point where everything is about to come together (I think). I always reach this point in a series I enjoy - desparately wanting to know what happens, and not wanting the book to end. I've been taking it slow - read 300 pages, put it down for a while. But now, the denouement is near. Hats off to PFH for a fine series. At least I still have his other books to look forward to.

I can without hinderance place blame upon Peter f Hamilton for nearly making me fail my first year of a law degree. I have nver read, or been so involved in a trilogy such as 'The Nights Dawn Books'. Thanks Peter for being an inspiration to the imagination and for fueling the mind of A BIG Sci-fi fan.

To Peter F Hamilton (I hope you get to read this) I wont bore you with praise (best books I ever read, etc.) but I've just finished The Naked God and am left speechless. Dont listen to any criticism of the ending, I found it immensely satisfying. As a physics student, I particularly enjoyed the science in the novels. Understanding some of the complex theories made me feel a bit chuffed. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. Future stories set in the Confederation universe would be cool, but obviously you'll want to do something fresh. Cant wait for your new stuff.

I'd like the thank JiB for a great site, i actually thought I was the only person to have read Mr. Hamiltons work. How wrong was I, thank god. Peter Hamilton has truly wrecked my SF reading now, no other book can compare and I just look at the books in the bookshop and compare them to him. Mr. Hamilton you must carry on the Confederation story, please. Just to add a sad note, I've named my new born son, Joshua!!!!

I read Reality Dysfunction while dossing on a beach on Zante and subsequently had to get a larger size of watch strap. Excellent book. Alchemist I picked up at a stall in Chelmsford market and was pleased to discover it a signed copy. How did it get there? Anyway, look forward to the rest.

Here I've been relentlessly digesting Night's Dawn volumes one and two (200 pages to go)wondering ( as I am reading) How is he going to tie this all together AND what book comes off the shelf next when it's done? Little bit o Gibson all night long ?(Mambo #5 a la Bega). Well now I can relax. I don't have to stingily savour those final pages as I have just discovered (order placed)that TNG will arrive in Canada in January. Sometime over the holiday season I'll have to knock off Second Chance at Eden to tide me over. I feel for those of you have finished TNG. Where next? Perhaps someone can suggest a soothing balm or a neural nanonic block. I just read some comments here about Tranquility disappearing; oh GOD. I haven't reached that point yet. That minx Ione; not her too!!
82 - 15/11/1999 23:35 - Eirik Arntsen
Hands down for mr. Hamilton. The Naked God sums up the best science fiction work of all time. I can't begin to imagine the work he has laid down in the prosess of writhing them. He was in my town three weeks ago here in Norway. And I MISSED IT!! Oh, the pain.. All I got was a signed book, but I didn't meet "mr.Connfederation" himself. If you read this mr.Hamilton, please keep the Confederation alive. You have spent so much time building it up, don't let it wither, please!

Night's Dawn: What an incredible series! Apart from time off for essential physiological functions (eat, sleep etc) I didn't put these down once I'd opened them. All three! Interesting, Mr Hamilton, that you were inspired by EE Smith at 13 y.o: that's when I read him and what you say about him is right! This sequence is the Best SF I've ever read (2nd Chance at Eden was brilliant too) - but the end of Neutronium Alchemist was the cruellest cliffhanger in history! (and so wonderfully resolved!).
87 - 26/09/1999 22:16 - James Porter

yes i got the book early, and a$2 cheaper than retail. i am enjoying it immensely. i have one problem though....you would think that pan macmillan would be able to employ proof readers. the ommisions in the naked god are an insult to the buying public. at $75 aus. for the three books the buying public deserves more. it is obvious that they used a spell check program.

Peter, have read everything you've written. Saw somebody else mention Stephen R. Donaldson, So true.... you have a gift. The White Gold Wielder series is the only other fiction series to move me so. I am eagerly waiting for the last of the Reality Dysfunction series. Please don't make us wait too long. About how long should I expect?
96 - 28/06/1999 21:10 - Andrew Deer
Have just finished "The Reality Dysfunction" - my first foray into Mr Hamilton's world. Have not read anything so good since the "Gap" series by Stephen Donaldson. Have ordered the next installment...

Just because it was thick I took the reality dysfunction of the shelf. Hamilton ROCKS I am amazed really. He is ten times more addictive than Banks could hope to be, I wish he could however just get a little more of the greats in him like herbert or heinlein. A dash of good selfish philosophy has never hurt anyone.

I have really enjoyed the series so farand can hardlt wait for October 8. What I like best about Peter Hamilton's work is that he does such a great job of coming up with very creative future technologies and then anticipates how these technologies will impact culture, religion and military strategy. The result is a very engrossing story which leaves you turning pages at 3AM dying to see what happens next.

My only regret is what's left to look forward to in life after I've read "The Naked God". Perhaps Mr Hamilton should licence his "Nights Dawn" universe and maintain approval rights.
104 - 23/05/1999 22:59 - Anthony Flynn
Great, great series (Nightsdawn). I cannot wait for the third book.
105 - 21/05/1999 15:05 - Martin Isitt
What a hero, a modern tolkin.

What is left for SciFi now? Peter F. Hamilton has written the ultimate idea for the ultimate story in the genre. Thank you. I wish there were a million more pages.

Loved Reality Dysfunction and Neutronium Alchemist books as well as 2nd Chance at Eden! Can't wait for The Naked God, I've been twitching with anticipation for a few months now! I bought these books for my brother as well who has aspirations of being a Sci Fi writer, and he loved them as much as I did. My brother is supposed to be meeting with Paramont Studios soon as he has subitted script ideas for Star Trek Voyager, and is expecting some positive results from the feedback he has received so far. You are an AWESOME writer. I just finished Mindstar Rising and will be picking up more of those books soon. Keep up the great work and like I've already said, can't wait for the next book!

I've read all of Peter F. Hamiltons books, and found the Night Dawn books unputdownable. It is a remarkable feat to write 2 books (and presumably a third on the way) with 1000 pages (plus) - and be up to 4 every morning for a week trying to finish them! I look forward to many more books from Peter. F. Hamilton. A true modern SF author. Keep up the good work!

Hmm... seems like I too have to raid something to get ahold of this author's books, they seem to be of the kind I'd like.
